FAQ’s

Lender Question: How does the Tentshare service work?

A: Our service connects tent and camping equipment owners with people who would like to borrow camping equipment. Owners list their items on our platform, and borrowers can browse and select the tents and camping gear they require.

Lender Question: How do I list my tent and camping equipment?

A: Take a photo of your tent or use an existing one and upload it to our website 👉here👈. It’s completely free, and you are under no obligation to take any further action. You have full control throughout the entire transaction. Just provide some details about your tent, and you’re good to go!

Lender Question: How much does it cost to upload my tent to the Tentshare website?

A: It costs absolutely nothing. Zero, zilch! You are not obligated to do anything you don’t want to do. Tentshare provides the platform, and the rest is entirely up to you.

Lender and Borrower Question: What does Tentshare get out of this?

A: Tentshare takes a 15% commission from the total booking fee. This fee is used to support you online and maintain the website’s operations. The remaining 85% is all yours.

Lender Question: What types of tents and camping equipment can I list and lend?

A: Our members provide a wide range of tents and camping equipment. This includes various sizes and styles of tents, sleeping bags, camping stoves, lanterns, backpacks, and more. Feel free to explore our platform to discover the camping equipment available to borrow.

Lender Question: How much should I charge for my tent?

A: The cost of booking depends on factors such as the size, quality, and type of tent you plan to rent out. If you own a big airbeam tent, you can charge more compared to a smaller two-person pop-up tent. You can compare prices by looking at the variety of tents available on our website.

Borrowe Question: How can I search for equipment or items?

A: You can search for equipment by entering a location or using the filters.

Q: Can I only borrow the items or can I also buy them?

A: Our platform is designed for borrowing camping equipment.

Q: How can I book an item?

A: Once you’ve found the item you want to borrow, enter the dates you want to use the camping kit and wait for the lender to respond. You can also contact the lender through our platform messaging service to arrange the rental details.

Q: How do I know the booking is confirmed?

A: Once you’ve completed the booking process, you will receive a confirmation email. You can also check your booking status on your dashboard.

Q: How do I pay for the rental?

A: You pay for the rental through our platform. Once the owner of the item approves your booking, you will receive an email confirmation with payment instructions.

Q: How do I pick up the equipment?

A: You must arrange a pickup time with the item lender when making your booking. The location of handover will be arranged with the lender and the borrower using the Tentshare messaging service.

Q: Who do I arrange collection and delivery with?

A: The owner/lender has complete control over collection and delivery. Some lenders may charge an additional fee for delivery, while others may pitch the tent for you. Discuss collection and delivery arrangements with the equipment owner before booking your tent.

Q: How do I return the equipment?

A: The return of the equipment must be arranged and agreed with the lender and the borrower using the Tentshare messaging service.

Q: How can I ensure the quality and safety of the borrowed items?

A: Lenders are encouraged to provide accurate item descriptions and upload clear photos. Lenders are reminded to check their kit before they lend it out. Borrowers are encouraged to take care of the kit and communicate with the lender if any damage occurs.

Q: What happens if the equipment gets damaged while I’m borrowing it?

A: Borrowers are responsible for any damage that occurs while it’s being borrowed. We ask borrowers to pay a damage deposit set by the owner. This is refunded once the item is returned in satisfactory condition. If damage does occur, it should be reported to the owner immediately to discuss potential solutions. We recommend discussing the owner’s policies regarding damage and liability before borrowing anything.

Ensuring your tent is treated with respect and care is important. Here are some ways to protect it:

  1. Communicate: Get to know the borrower by asking them about their intended use of the tent and where they plan to take it. Gather as much detail as possible.
  2. Deposit: Set your refundable deposit fee when you list your equipment. When the item is returned the deposit will be released to the borrower.
  3. Person-to-Person: If possible, meet the borrower in person either by delivering the camping items or having them pick it up. This way, you can provide instructions on how to pitch and care for the equipment properly.
  4. Information: Take pictures of the equipment and provide written instructions. Include video tutorial links to help the borrower use the equipment safely and prevent damage.
  5. Lenders Guarantee: This is an optional extra, for £2 per booking Superhog will guarantee your equipment for up to £500 damages. You must send an email here and ask for this service directly: hello@tentshare.co.uk Tentshare is an official partner/member of SUPERHOG, the #1 short-term rental risk management company. Q: What is the booking duration and how are the booking fees calculated?

A: The booking fees are determined by the owner/lender. Some owners may offer daily, weekly, or monthly rates. You can find this information on the listing page for each item. Rental fees are typically calculated based on the duration and value of the equipment.

Q: How do I make a booking?

A: To make a booking, find the equipment you want to borrow on the Tentshare platform and check its availability. Once you’ve chosen the dates and duration of the booking, you can contact the owner through the platform to obtain further details or make the booking and await a response.

Q: Can I amend my booking?

A: Amending a booking may be challenging as the equipment may not be available on another date. However, it depends on each individual equipment owner’s discretion. If you need to make an amendment, contact the equipment owner as soon as possible.

Q: How can I contact the owner if I have questions or issues?

A: You can contact the owner directly through our platform messaging service. If you encounter any issues or have questions, feel free to reach out to us for any assistance.

Q: What happens if the equipment is not returned on time?

A: It is important to adhere to the agreed-upon booking duration. If the equipment is not returned on time, additional charges may apply. The late fees and policies will be determined by the owner, so make sure to communicate and arrange any necessary extensions in advance.

Q: Can I list my own equipment to lend?

A: Absolutely! We encourage equipment owners to list and lend their items. Simply create an account on our platform, provide detailed descriptions and photos of your equipment, set the rental rates and availability, and you’ll be ready to start receiving booking requests.

Q: How do I choose a tent and equipment?

A: Each item listed on our website comes with a description and filters to help you narrow down your search. Take your time to browse or use the filters to find suitable options. Once you’ve found a tent and kit or a few options that interest you, contact the item owner through the website to ask questions and discuss any concerns.

Q: I’ve never camped before. Can anyone help me make the most of my first camping experience?

A: Our blog page features articles from family campers and experienced wild campers who offer great advice. You can find them 👉here👈. The lender is likely an experienced camper, so feel free to seek their guidance. If you’ve shared your email with us, you should have received our helpful FREE packing list. Let us know if you haven’t, and we’ll send it to you.

Q: What if it rains and I can’t camp?

A: Rain doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll have a bad time. Make sure to pack raincoats and wet weather gear to stay prepared. Although the decision ultimately rests with each individual tent owner, we do not endorse refunds due to bad weather.

Q: Who is my agreement with?

A: Tentshare provides a platform for camping kit listing, lending and borrowing. The actual booking and transaction agreement is between you and the item owner.
